Self-worth

Is self worth taught and a learned behavior?
If so, how do you make sure the lesson is received and accepted?
This is a great question. Self worth, self value, and self esteem is such a delicate issue for a person; especially at the early stages of development. I would agree it’s both, a person should hear they are loved, respected, accepted, special, beautiful, needed, smart, and etc. In hearing this it’s should be modeled for them in what it looks like to be loved, respected, accepted, special, beautiful, needed, smart, and etc. It takes a very strong individual to learn these attributes on their own, given the negative messages society sends through the media, T.V. music, and in our every day interactions with one another. It takes 10 positives to correct one negative and our world is so critical and focuses on the flaws of who we are.
I wish I had the answer to insure a person developed a healthy self esteem. What I have found to place a person in a best position for success in this area is:
1. Starting at birth telling them they are loved, respected, accepted, special, beautiful, needed, smart, and etc.
2. Model for them what it looks like to have these attributes
3. Ask them do they feel those things about them selves, if they don’t ask why? Because some where they have received a message opposite of what they were taught
4. Know when they become teens it is age appropriate to struggle with self esteem, just wanting to be accepted by their peers
5.Get them involved in things that encourages their strenghts and builds them up
6. Try to stay away from things that tear them down; especailly people.
7. Expalin to them why it’s important for them to love, accept and respect them selves
I hoped this has helped..olecoop

Boston $4.25 “Better music through science” was the Epic Records-coined slogan that Boston leader Tom Scholz hated, but this masterwork of studio-happy, high-school-parking-lot music earned it. Scholz fine-tuned his overdubbed guitar orchestra to a pitch that a thousand subsequent album-rockers couldn’t resist. And why should they? Where the band’s later records were hardly worthy of note, Boston pulls togethe… |

Black Sabbath $4.82 Some might claim that this 1970 debut is the definitive Black Sabbath record. While the gothic overtones of the opening track, “Black Sabbath” (thunderstorms and foreboding church bells introduce Ozzy Osbourne’s howl and Tony Iommi’s sludgy guitar), and the raucous defiling of Cream on “N.I.B.” were thrilling then (and remain so now), there is too much wanking here to really qualify the collection… |
